The WFL League is a premium amateur football league experience that brings together women of all playing levels: from beginners to advanced players, in a competitive and encouraging environment. It’s more than just matchdays: it’s a space to play competitive football, meet new people and be part of a growing football community built just for women. From gauging your skills on the Skills Day and drafting you to a team on the Draft Day, to eventually team training and matchdays, the League is designed to deliver a professionally organised football experience from start to finish.

The WFL League is open to beginners, intermediate and advanced players. Everyone is welcome to register. The League uses a fair and structured draft process to help create competitive and balanced squads across the League. You can register either as an individual or with a +1. If you’re new to WFL and haven’t previously participated in the WFL Ladder, WFL Academy or WFL League Season 1, you’ll need to attend Skills Day before the Draft.

Yes! You can register with a friend, teammate or someone you’d like to play alongside. If you register with a +1, we’ll make sure both of you are placed on the same team.

Skills Day is a session for players who are new to WFL and haven’t previously participated in the WFL Ladder, WFL Academy or WFL League Season 1. It helps us guage your current skill level, which is an important part of the Draft process and helps Team Owners build competitive squads. Players who have previously participated in any of the WFL programmes do not need to attend Skills Day.

We understand that schedules can get busy. During registration, you’ll select the matchdays you’re available for, and we’ll share your availability with the Team Owners, Captains and Coaches so they can plan accordingly. If your availability changes after registration, please make sure to communicate it with us as early as possible so your team can make the necessary arrangements.

Teams are formed on Draft Day. Each team will have a Team Owner, who will draft and build their squad based on the team they want to create. Team Owners will put together their squads through a fair and structured drafting process, with the aim of building competitive teams across the League. WFL will facilitate and oversee the entire process and provide the necessary support, but will not have any say in player selection or team formation.

Once the teams are formed, WFL will assign a coach to each team. Captains along with coaches will be responsible for coordinating training sessions sessions fot their respective teams. These sessions will give teams the opportunity to build chemistry, understand each other’s strengths and develop how they want to play together.

Team Captains will be the primary point of contact between WFL, the Team Owner, Coach and players. They’ll help coordinate team training sessions, communicate important information, keep the team organised and ensure everyone stays informed throughout the League. Captains will also play an important role in keeping the team motivated, engaged and connected, both on and off the pitch.
